ANCIENT TEMPLE OF KALIKA MATA OF SANDAN/SAYAN, SUJANGARH CHURU

Dungri of Sandan / Sayan is situated on Ratangarh-Salasar road in Sujangarh tehsil of Churu district of Rajasthan. An ancient temple divided into three parts is situated on this hill. The temple of Kali Mata of Sandan/Syanan is said to be the contemporary of Harshnath in the tenth century. Two temples are facing each other on the hill facing east and west. The third main temple is south facing. All these three temples are built in the shape of a chariot. The rocks of the hill are brown in color with gravel. These temples are built with these stones.

From the point of view of style and architecture, these temples have similarities with the temple of Harshnath. In the premises of the temple, innumerable idols made of art are lying in a fragmented state, which reminds us of the attacks of foreigners on India. Along with humans, eunuchs, yakshas, Gandharva and animals and birds, many deities have also been engraved on the stones. These include the idols of Shiva-Parvati, Saraswati, Ganesha, Rama, Krishna, Brahma, and Vishnu.
